Hello, welcome to our Blog! We recently moved the Blog onto our website (it was previously on Blogger) and so we will add to it afresh, over time. We hope you enjoy our Blog and the news and updates we have to share with you.

Hello, how are you?
Hello! How are you? We're guessing that we might already know the answer to that though and you have found yourself here because, actually you’re not feeling all that good at the moment. Is that right? We all don’t feel so good sometimes and that's ok; however, sometimes, we can feel anxious, down, hurt, in pain, numb and a whole load of other things for quite a long time and that’s not ok. Why? Because the longer things go on, the worse we feel and it affects our behaviour, relationships, how we feel about ourselves, our views, work and lots of other things in life. We often see how things start out small: they bother us in a small way to start with, but the problem ends up snowballing, growing arms and legs everywhere and we end up feeling life is going around in circles, getting nowhere and not knowing how to change it. Many people we work with in therapy and counselling describe how this causes them to end up feeling stuck and unable to move: a bit like being trapped in a spider’s

I am soooooo stressed!
Did you know that many of the people we work with in psychotherapy, counselling and in dietitian/nutritional therapy tell us: I AM SOOOOO STRESSED!! I FEEL I AM AT BREAKING POINT! I AM SO OVERWHELMED BY WORK AND LIFE!! Stress, overwhelm and burnout affect us in so many different ways: they affect how our brain works; they affect us physically; they affect our feelings and emotions and how we deal with them; they affect us at work and socially; and stress, overwhelm and burnout also affect our relationships and quality of life. Yet, many of us go along, just putting up with it until we arrive at some sort of breaking point and start feeling panic, anxious, out-of-control, exhausted and maybe even lost. It doesn't have to be like that though. There are lots of things you can do, with support, to help both prevent, and manage, stress, overwhelm and burnout. Some involve simple strategies that help keep us on

WHAT IS TRAUMA? 'Trauma is the response to a deeply distressing or disturbing event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, causes feelings of helplessness, diminishes their sense of self and their ability to feel the full range of emotions and experiences' (Karen Onderko). Emotional and psychological trauma can result from a single event/incident or multiple events/incidents that cause a huge amount of stress in the body and that may compromise our sense of safety or security. People often think it's only the 'big things' or really 'serious' incidents that cause trauma, however, that's not true. We often experience what we call small 't's' that, if they have specific meaning/significance to us, or occur alongside an accummulation of other small 't's', can result in a traumatic experience. It's really important to dispel this myth because many people don't seek support because they think or feel that the 'thing' they have experience is 'not big enough' or 'not important enoug
