DO YOU KNOW WHAT GENERALISED ANXIETY IS?
What is Generalised Anxiety Disorder? We all experience anxious periods now and again. Some anxiety, worry and/or nervousness is ‘normal’ and can even act as a motivator sometimes (e.g. deadlines at work). However, when we begin experiencing excessive, continuous and/or distressing levels of constant anxiety worry and/or nervousness, it is possible that we may be experiencing a condition called Generalised Anxiety Disorder or GAD. What distinguishes GAD from ‘normal’ everyday levels of anxiety or worry? Well, individual’s experiencing problematic, and often severe, anxiety can experience high levels of stress, nervousness and anxiety and worry about a wide range of things over a long period of time. Calling all therapists, counsellors, psychologists and other eating disorder clinicians.... We are excited to announce our next group! More details below. NEXT EATING DISORDERS AND BODY IMAGE SUPERVISION AND CONSULT GROUP The next Eating Disorder and Body Image Supervision and Consult Group will take place on Wednesday 11th June 2025, 6-8pm. The group is facilitated by an accredited psychotherapist, clinical supervisor and trainer/lectuer with over 24 years experience in the eating disorders field. I'm Fine!
How often do we ask someone, whether it's a friend, family member, colleague, neighbour (or anyone else), 'how are you?' and they answer, 'I'm fine'? All the time, yes? How often do people ask you, 'how are you?' and you answer, 'I'm fine'? All the time, I'm betting. It's that stock phrase we pull out and give everytime someone asks how we are doing. We often don't even think about saying it, its so automatic. Yet, often we are not fine. And often the person we are asking after isn't fine either. In fact, I am betting many people answer 'I'm fine' and, underneath, they are really struggling, hurting, in pain, worrying about something in their life and being faced with terrible news or a distressing situation. But, we will never know this until we starting letting others in and starting reaching out a bit more. Why are we so afraid of how we feel? Why are we so anxious about sharing our thoughts or what we are going through? Why are we so nervous about asking how someone really is? I ca
